Tilda and Friends ATC Challenge

Here's my 'blue and yellow' submission to this week's ATC Challenge. Checkout their blog to see the DT members' creations. You won't be disappointed! These ATCs are fun to make but I'm going to need to stock up on some smaller Magnolias as the image I used for this card is the only one I have that is small enough to fit on a 3.5" x 2.5" card. Have a good week!

All CS is DCWV including the paper piecing - Ribbon SU - MFT Essential Sayings - Provocraft yellow flower brad - Brilliance Graphite Black ink and Copics.

Arty Girlz "Chocolate" Challenge

Well, today is a day of firsts. This is also my first Arty Girlz Challenge and here's my submission. The challenge is to use anything chocolate and how is a girl supposed to resist chocolate!?

I used the sketch from the Papertake Challenge and made another card. Same info as in previous post below but I've used SU Chocolate Chip for background and layering - added a floral brad from Provocraft to the Bazzill Wing brown blossom - and the ribbon is from Michaels. The rest is pretty much the same but a new card nonetheless.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

A really quick post as I've got to get dinner ready and laundry done for tomorrow. This is my first submission to the Papertake Weekly Challenge. Checkout their website for this week's Sketch Challenge.

This card is a bit out of my comfort zone and I had to redo it before this made it to press - lol. Enjoy!

DCWV cs - K&Co DP - SU double stitched ribbon - Bazzill Wings pink blossom with SU jewel brad - Magnolia image and Whipper Snapper saying - Brilliance Graphite Black ink - Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll on wings and collar - and Copics for colouring.

Cute Card Thursday "People" Challenge

Well, this was a long time coming - a whole week - lol! It's been a very busy week here and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down in the next couple either. This is my submission to the Cute Card Thursday Challenge and this week's theme is people. Camera wasn't cooperating or I'm too tired so the picture didn't turn out that great and after a couple of tries I gave up.

I like how the card turned out but would make some changes next time. I used Brilliance lightning black pigment ink on both the image and Studio G Clear saying and wished I had used Brilliance graphite black to give the image that extra "pop". I probably should have pop dotted the main image as well but when you're tired sometimes you're working on auto and the creative juices are nowhere to be found.

The stamp is a retired SU - Frienship Grows - which reminds me of my girls packing up the wagon to go to the beach in the summer. Yup, I could use some summer weather right now! What about you? Believe it or not the image was coloured with 10 different Copic colours. I put my new scallop and circle Spellbinder Nestabilities to work right away with my Cuttlebug. These nestabilities are really cool and versatile. I only wish they made bigger ones.

Have a good weekend.

Image on Wausau Paper from Walmart - DP Paper from Spring DCWV pack - Prima flowers and baby pink small round brads by All My Memories - Dots and Dashes pink grosgrain ribbon from Michaels's - SU Ticket Corner Punch and 1-1/4" circle punch.

Spring is in the Air!

Ooooh I found a card I made a couple of months ago before I got the nerve to set-up a blog. Doesn't it make you think of SPRING?!

It's a Magnolia image coloured in with Tombows and the saying comes from a clear set I bought at Michael's. But I can't remember the DP - maybe DCWV - or what kind of floral embellishments I used.

The sun's out right now and it's a bit brisk outside but other than that one can hope Spring's around the corner and that we'll be out enjoying our gardens soon.

Thursday and Friday Challenges

Do you ever wish for the end of the week even before the beginning of the week starts? Well, I'm usually wishing for Thursday and Friday when its only Monday or Tuesday?! So in honour of wishing for the end of the week, I've created this card and submitted it to 2 challenges.

Cute Card Thursday has a weekly challenge and this week's is All Creatures Great and Small. They want to see creatures on your card - your pick. They're giving away some awesome blog candy and if you're addicted to Magnolia like I am, don 't pass up the chance to visit their site. What a way to end the week if you're the lucky winner! I know it's not about winning but a little reward at the end of the week is always soooo nice!

What would the end of the week be without Friday so be sure to check out the Thank God It's Friday site - doesn't the name say it all!! Anyway, they have a weekly challenge as well and this week's is all about ribbons. I don't know about you but I don't use ribbon very often as I don't think I have a knack for it. But what's a challenge if it's not challenging for the participant?

Check out Erica's blog at Scrapalicious. She has been so nice to provide the link for a free blog signature. I've been wanting to add this to my blog but didn't know how. Thanks Erica! I just have to figure out how to get rid of the box around the signature - oh well.

Well onto the recipe for this card: I used Chocolate Chip SU cs for the background card and DCWV Spring CS Matstock and DCWV pink from the Spring Matstack. I chose the Delia Angel image by none other than High Hopes and coloured it in with Copics. I tried to make the dog's fur look distressed with the Copics by using the Copic blender and it's an interesting effect. It was a pretty challenging image to colour with all the critters and the angel but I tried to match the colours with the DCWV Spring cs. I also used some bling for the angel's wings and the heart in the saying but can't remember where I got them. As for the saying, it is a partial from Hero Arts and the flowers are of course my fav - Primas. Last but not least the ribbons are by Dots & Dashes purchased from Michael's. Hope you like it!

Have a great week creating and blogging!

2 Challenges in 1

This is my first Artist Trading Card (ATC) and it was very challenging. I had a few redos given I'm used to working on much bigger cards than this 3.5 by 2.5 inch ATC.

I'm entering this ATC in 2 challenges: Tilda and Friends ATC Challenges and on Megastamper. Tilda and Friends will award 3 lucky winners who create with chocolate in mind - colour or edible version - with stamped Tilda images and some are Magnolia's latest - Yipee! Megastamper Bea has had over 50,000 visitors - WOW - on her blog and she's celebrating by offering a chance to win some nice blog candy. Pink is the theme of Bea's challenge so check out her great blog.

Here's the recipe for my first ATC: I used a lot of my favourites here like my favourite Magnolia stamp, Prima Flowers - got both from Phebe at Town Scrapper - cardstock and DP by SU. I stamped Tilda with Brilliance Lightning Black ink on Wausau paper. The Chocolate Chip and Purely Pomegranate CS as well as the Berry Bliss DP is all by SU. I added the ribbon from Michaels, Prima Flowers and a partial saying from High Hopes. I paper pieced Tilda's dress with the Berry Bliss DP as well and coloured the rest of her in using Copics.

Well, this is it for posting this weekend. I've got to finish up the prep for Easter Sunday lunch and the Egg Hunt plus clean the house and do laundry....etc. It'll all be worth it to see the kids' faces when they find the eggs and open them. Have a good one!

The Easter Bunny's Coming!

Well, I got inspired today after our wonderful get-together at Actors in Petrolia. We had loads of fun, good food and combined it with some shopping at the Town Scrapper. So tonight I opened up a new package of Wausau Paper (thaks for the tip Kim), stamped the Penny Black image and partial saying by High Hopes with Archival Brilliance Lightning Black. I used Blossom-Laughter DP by Three Bugs in a Rug, Bazzill Wings flowers and DejaView jewel brads.

Tomorrow I'll be preparing the Easter Bunny's surprises for our annual Easter Egg Hunt for my daughters, nieces and nephews. It's become a family tradition for the past 7 years and they have a great time hunting for those surprise "eggs". Hope the Easter Bunny is good to you and your families.

Happy Easter

Well, I'm back and just exhausted from trekking around at Seaworld in Florida all week. My girls just loved Discovery Cove and I have to say that this was a great family vacation!

Anyway, I haven't posted in a week and half and thought it was time to post an Easter Card since Easter is literally around the corner on Sunday. I'm not quite prepared this time as Easter sort of snuck up on me this year. Between March Break, losing an hour when clocks "sprung'' forward and now getting ready for family-get-togethers and Easter Egg Hunts I'm not sure how much posting I'll be doing until after Easter. So here's a little something to wish you and your families a very Happy Easter.

Background, bunny and saying by Great Impressions - bought these in Florida hehehe. Embellished card with Bazzill Wings flowers and DejaViews jewel brads. Used Tombows 243, 452, 491, 703 and 885. This is not my usual genre of card but I think it turned out ok. Next time I'll change the colour scheme to one that is a bit more vibrant.

Aud's Favorite Challenge

OK - I'm sneaking another post in before we leave. Everyone is still asleep and its so quiet that I was able to create this card to submit to Aud's Favorite Challenge. Check out Aud's blog for the opportunity to enter her challenge and win her generous blog candy. She has some gorgeous gorgeous cards on her blog.

The main image is by High Hopes Rubber Stamps. This is the first stamp I ever bought and it is my very favourite. I love the colours in the designer K&Co paper and this is the first time I've used my copic markers - early Mother's Day present - and Prima Flowers. The sentiment is also from High Hopes and is meant to go with the image. Isn't the little girl so adorable! She reminds me of my little girls who go exploring for bugs and flowers in the Spring and Summer.

I'll check back in a week. Happy blogging!

Nice & Springy Challenge

Here's my submission to Kimmie's challenge for a chance to win the High Hopes "Mary J" stamp. The stamp would so come in handy for my daughters' teachers.

The card's main image is High Hopes' Little Missy. I used K&Co designer paper, Amanda Blu fabric flower, Robin's Nest bauble and the sentiment is a G Studio clear stamp. Sorry the explanation is brief but I'm still packing for our trip to Florida for March Break so I literally whipped this up in a rush.

Spring is in the Air Challenge

Here's my submission for the Tilda & Co Challenge.

I used K&Co designer paper as a backdrop and stamped and coloured in another G Studio clear stamp sentiment, added some Provocraft floral bradlets and coloured the Tilda with Tombows. I usually add stickles to the wings but forgot before taking the picture.

Blog on over - lol - to the challenge and have some fun getting the creative juices going!

Tilda and Co Challenge

Check out the Tilda and Co Challenge blog at http://magnoliachallengeblog.blogspot.com/

They have great weekly challenges for Magnolia aficionados. I sent my submission via email on March 1st because at the time I had not set-up my blog. I just love the Magnolia stamps. I used the paper piecing technique for the very first time with this card. I think that's it for today's postings - whew a lot of work for a novice blogger!

Craftybe Challenge

Here's my submission to Bernie's challenge on her blog at http://craftybe.blogspot.com/

I embossed the card with the Cuttlebug - I just love, love, love this machine! - and cut out a scallop window with the Marvy Giga punch. I used a Penny Black stamp for the main image and cut it out with the Mega Marvy circle punch. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and cut with the SU small oval punch. Check out Bernie's blog for inspiring cards and techniques.

First Post

Well, here I am jumping into the world of blogging. Wish me luck! It'll be pretty minimal and simple stuff for this gal for the first little while until I get my feet wet - LOL - and learn to ropes.

Shortly, I'll be posting two samples of my entries into weekly challenges. Please keep in mind that I am a novice. If you have any feedback on my entries and/or on the blog, I'd appreciate it.
