Funky Backpack Tag

Hi there crafty friends!  It’s back to school for my girls this week.  My oldest is so excited to be starting middle school so I wanted to make a tag for her backpack using a funky image as she’s getting older and the COOL factor is soooo important ~ lol.  I made this simple tag using Felicity, which is one of the NEW fabulous digis from the 60s Girlfriends Collection.  Now these beauties are so funky with sweet attitude and that oh yeah factor so I knew my big girl would think Felicity was COOL enough to sport on her backpack!!
Here’s the list of Copics I used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E31 & R20 ~ Hair: E50, E29, E25 & E37 ~ Jacket: E50 & E31 ~ Hat & Scarf:YR09, YR05, YR15 & Y38 ~ Boots:  E18, E17, E15 &E00 ~ Outline: BG10
I made a booboo (well more than one if you look closely – lol) when I coloured the skin accidentally using E31 instead of E00.  Well, I went over the E31 with E00 and I quite like the combo so I’ll be purposely using that one again.  Colouring is what I find the most difficult to do as I want everything just perfect.  BUT, I have to admit that mistakes usually end up being a good thing – usually – and I learn a lot from them on how to do things another way.  Soooo my pearls of wisdom for the day are HAVE FUN and PLAY.
Here’s a pic of the tag on the backpack. I added 2 pearls to the tag after taking the pictures above as I felt those areas needed a little extra something.
I couldn't resist having all the fabby Girlfriends in the collection Here.  Checkout the MIC Store Blog for more wonderful inspiration, colouring techniques, tips and tutorials.

Magnolia-licious Inspiration Challenge

Happy Tuesday!  Here's a picture for this month's Inspiration Challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.  I'm hostess this month and thought it could be an Anything Goes with the option of embossing.

Here's my card which did not photograph well especially the flowers which are not red but a fuchsia shade of pink IRL. Oooh DUH ~ Since the card is white on white, I should have used a darker background for contrast.

I used an older Magnolia called Sitting Baby Tingla and the Congratulations sentiment.  It's currently out of stock but Diana has an amazing assortment of adorable baby stamps in stock perfect for a baby shower, a congrats on your new arrival or even 1st birthday.  Card background created with the Heritage Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The rest of the materials used are listed below.

Paper: MIC Blending card stock
Ink: Encore Metallic Pink Pigment ink for background, Memento Tuxedo Black
Copic:  E000, E00, E01, E11, E18, E23, E30, B0000, B01, B02, Y0000, Y11, Y13, Y17, R20, RV02, RV23 & RV25
Cherish Pebble:  Prima
Other: Flowers, pearls and brads from stash

Have a great week and don't forget to join in the fun for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Magnolia-licious online store.  Can't wait to see your creation.

Gift Box with MIC Chipboard

Hi Everyone!  I'm posting my latest Make It Crafty project showcasing Zoe’s fabulous chipboard and its versatility.  This is an acetate gift box I’ve filled with different coloured flowers but you can also fill the box with yummy chocolates or other small gifts.
I’ve kept the layout fairly simple with no main image so it makes for a quicker project.  I punched out my border and added my DP paper to it so that it bands around the box. I then had fun embellishing with the chipboard which I chose to keep ‘au natural’ but that you could also colour using a number of different mediums (i.e. Copics, paints, chalks …. etc).  The Chipboard is one of my absolute favourite MIC products! I’m soooo addicted to using them as I always find it adds that little extra something something to everything.
So what do you think of my easy peasy quick project? Glad you could stop by and I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit.  Don't forget to checkout the rest of the DT's daily projects on the Store Blog.  There's something new almost every day and oooooh yes, Zoe has a GOODIE giveaway too so check it out!

Pink, Green & Yellow at Magnolia-licious

Hi everyone! It's my turn to host the Colour Challenge at the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog and here's a picture to inspire you to use Pink, Green and light Yellow/Ecru in your creations.

I've inked Tilda Catching Stars from the new Princes and Princesses Collection available at Diana's on-line store Magnolia-licious.  Tilda is stamped on MIC blending card stock, coloured with Copics and then cut out.  Copic colours used are E000, E00, E01, E11, E13, R20, RV10, RV21, RV23, Y000, Y13, Y17, C0, C2 & B000.  I played with mixing the C0, C2, Y000 & B000 for Tilda's socks and shoes to create an interesting shade of green which ended up really light and soft.  I also used 2 Magnolia Doohickey Dies for my card.  One along the bottom edge and the other to create a a swirl which I wound around the pink polka dot paper and attached at the back.  Both dies are currently out of stock but let Diana know if you're wanting them.  They will make a wonderful addition to your collection! Papers are My Mind's Eye and the rhinestone and pearl embellishments from my stash (can't remember where I bought them).  I kept the card really simple but wanted to have some fun with paper design by using swirls and polka dots and more solid colours this time.  Hope you like it!

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Be sure to visit my teamies for a look at their fabulous work.  Can't wait to see what you come up and don't forget Dina has a $25 gift certificate for one lucky winner.

Just for You

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!  Can you believe it's almost May?! The Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog has a new Inspiration challenge for you.  Here's our hostess Tracy's yummy pic to inspire you.
I've inked Princess Party Tilda from the new Princes and Princesses Collection available at Diana's on-line store Magnolia-licious.  Isn't she just the cutest! Tilda is stamped on MIC blending card stock, coloured with Copics and then cut out.  Let me tell you that cutting Tilda out was a labour of love with all that beautiful curly hair.  I used the Blossoms, Tags and Accents dies from Spellbinder this time and added a Stampin' Up sentiment in the centre.  For the embellishments, I added Prima flowers, MIC chipboard corners, pearls, a cake charm with ribbon and a bit of glitter.  Papers are a combination of older Girls Paperie DP which I absolutely looooove.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Looking forward to taking a peek at your creations.  Be sure to visit my teamies to take a look at their fabulous work.  Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week.

Hi everyone!  Back today with a project for the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.  Here's a picture from Tracy to inspire you to join us for this bright and vibrant Colour Challenge.  Can't wait to have you join us and to see your creation.

I've inked Tilda with Blue Blanket from the Princes and Princesses Collection.  This adorable stamp is currently available as a mini at the Magnolia-licious online store.  Tilda stamped on MIC blending card stock, coloured with Copics and then cut out.  Card edges created with a Magnolia Doohickey lace die, available in different lace designs also at Magnolia-licious. For the embellishments, I added Prima flowers, MIC chipboard corners, pearls and a butterfly punched out with a Martha Stewart punch.  Papers are some favourite remnants from my stash.

Spring into Love

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to share something crafty with you today that I prepared for the new Make It Crafty Store Blog. My card features Geeky Love, which is one of my favourite MIC images, available in both digi and rubber.

Image printed on MIC blending card, coloured with Copics (E000, E00, E01, E11, R20, R0000, R81, R83, R85, R59, Yoo, Y11, Y13, Y17, E50, E23, E27, C0, C1, C2, C3, B0000, B02, B97, YG11, G12, G07 & BV0000 for outline), cut out with Spellbinder’s largest Standard Circle die and then framed with Spellbinder’s Lacey Circle die which I surrounded with pink rhinestones. I also sponged around the circle and sentiment with a wheat chalk ink. Another one of my favourite products is MIC’s Chipboard Embellishments so I used two Ornate Corners but left them ‘au naturel’ this time because I wanted them to subtly ground the card rather than pop off the card. I challenged myself to use only one piece of DP fully intending to keep the card very simple. BUT I found these Prima flowers which matched the My Mind’s Eye DP so well and then couldn’t resist adding the pink webbed ribbon and hat pins from my stash so that the card sort of took on a life of it’s own ~ haha. Sentiment was computer generated and framed using the Blossom, Tags and Accents Spellbinder die. Card base is 6×6 and the matting done with coloured cardstock from my stash.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Thanks for popping by to visit and I hope my post has inspired you in some small way to have some fun and get crafty.

Happy Easter!

Magnolia-licious Rainbow Colour Challenge

Happy Tuesday Everyone! It's time for our Magnolia-licious Colour Challenge so pick 3 colours of the rainbow and have some fun creating with us.

My project features a special stamp from Sweden called Stamping Tilda available for pre-order at the Magnolia-licious online store.  Do you see yourself in Tilda ~ lol! I kept the card very very simple with little embellishments except for the pearls in the corners of the card and the ribbon.  Tilda is coloured with Copics and her background sponged with chalk ink.  I did something a bit different with the background too as I was trying for something vintage/rustic looking.  So I inked the lid of my mini tear drop Memento ink pad and stamped around the image and oval border.  No special rhyme or reason other than making sure to not stamp over the image.  As I said, something different but I like the effect.  I also used my personalized stamp at the bottom of the oval frame.

Well that's it for me today. It's March/Spring Break here in SW Ontario and I'm taking a break with hubby and my girls. For those also on Break, hope you're having a fabulous time!

BTW, I wanted to try colouring Tilda's face a little differently this time and took a look at Kylie's fabulous tutorial here.  I'm so disappointed with my colouring! This is an example of how using the right paper with Copics is so important!  I didn't realize until I started colouring and was already on holidays away from my crafting supplies, that I had grabbed the wrong cardstock.  It's not my trusty MIC blending cardstock!!! Whatever I grabbed made my Copics streak badly and unable to blend ~ ugh!  When I get home, I will have to colour this image again but on MIC blending cardstock.

Hope you get a chance to play along and take a peek at my teamies' beautiful creations for inspiration.  You might be the lucky winner of a $25 gift certificate to Diana's store.

Thanks for your visit and for any comment you leave.

Hugs,
Maria

Magnolia-licious Inspiration Challenge

Hello Everyone!  It's time for our inspiration challenge over at the Magnolia-licious Challenge blog. Here is our photo inspiration selected by our wonderful Norma:

Here's what I came up with for the challenge featuring mini Happy Tilda (currently out of stock) coloured with Copics.  I also sponged 2 Ranger DIs (Tumbled Glass and Pink Sugar) with Wheat Chalk ink around Tilda plus brown Memento ink around the edge of the circle I created with Spellbinder's small standard circle die:

The fabulous mini doily surrounding mini Happy Tilda (currently out of stock) was created using a Doohickey mini doily die by Magnolia and fits perfectly for the minis.  DP is by Magnolia too and a fine assortment of Magnolia paper packs are available at Diana's Magnolia-licious online store.  The edge at the bottom of the card was made using the MS punch Rings and of course no card would be complete without my swirls which are by Prima. Stacked crocheted flowers are from Stamping Up and the brad in the centre from my stash. I added a Whimsy's Adventure Postage Mini Sentiment created using the matching mini postage stamp die also by Whimsy.  The layout for my card was inspired by none other than the uber-talented Michele Boyer at Paper Cuts here.

I'm entering my project into the following challenges:
Your visit and any comment you leave really brightens my day so thank you for taking time out of your busy day to stop and visit. I hope my post has inspired you in some small way to play along with us and I look forward to seeing your creation.

Magnolia-licious Blue and Brown Challenge

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!  I've made a gift bag for the Magnolia-licious Colour Challenge which is BLUE and BROWN. Can't wait to have you play along with us.  You could be the lucky winner of a $25 gift certificate to Diana's online store Magnolia-licious.

My project features mini Tilda with Wrapped Heart coloured with Copics on Make it Colour Blending Cardstock. BTW, did you know that Diana sells a mini doily die perfect for the minis Magnolias?  I've just ordered mine and can't wait for it to arrive.  I used My Mind's Eye DP called Pretty Please "Flower Drops".  Edges of image were sponged with chalk ink and the blue rhinestone swirl I got at Michaels.

Here's a side view of the gift bag.  It was so easy to put together using my Scor-Pal ~ absolute must-have for all crafters ~ and sticky tape.  The decorative edge on the top flap of the bag I created with the Magnolia Doohickey Tilda Lace Die.  The mini Magnolias are just the perfect size to embellish the bag and can be used for all sorts of occasions.

Here's a view of the bag with the top flap open.  Brown ribbon is from my stash.  Instructions for making this super easy and fun gift bag are HERE.

Well that's it for today.  I'm entering my project into the following challenges:

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by to visit.

Maria
