Birthday Pouch & CCT Challenge 49

Edited to add: I'm entering the Cute Card Thursday Challenge #49 called Animal Magic. This week's challenge requires an animal somewhere on your card or other item. I think this pouch qualifies with the cute puppy.

Happy Sunday! First saw this diaper fold pouch on Claudia and Inge's blogs and made this one for my youngest to give to her little friend for her birthday next weekend. It's going to be filled with a few Littlest Pet Shops and a gift card to Claire's - a Knick Knacky store for girls. It took me a little longer to complete with this cold that has me all stuffed up one minute and running for kleenex the next - ugh.

I'm happy with the way it turned out but found it tricky to fold glittered DP. It tends to crack so I also tried making a pouch with another double-sided non-glittered DP and it turned out better with no cracking - I'll post it later this week. Surprisingly, you don't need tape for this and as long as your paper is square, you can make the pouch in different sizes. I used a 12x12 sheet of DP.

This adorable Tilda with Puppy image is from Magnolia's 2009 Love Collection. Just when I thought I finished the pouch, I realized I coloured Tilda as a brunette but the birthday girl is dark blonde. Instead of colouring a new image, I decided to first try to 'fix' the hair colour. I went over the 2 browns I originally used for the hair with a yellow-based Copic a few times and it lightened Tilda's hair. I like how it turned out and the more I use my Copics, the more comfortable I'm getting experimenting with them.

Gloomy snowy day today here so no sunlight for good picture taking. Have a great Sunday.

Hugs,
Maria

Stamp: Tilda from the 2009 Love Collection
