Christmas in August

This week's fun challenge over at A Spoon Full of Sugar is Christmas in August.  I wanted to make something other than a card so my good friend and I challenged ourselves to make a candle.  I was so excited as I have been wanting to try this for over a year but never really got around to doing it.

Here a few great tutorials on how to make a candle with either a stamped image on Dawn's Blog or a digital image on Lydia's Blog.  I masked 3 Magnolia images on tissue paper (this Tilda is going to be one of my faves for Christmas and she's so versatile for many other occasions too) and coloured with my Copics.  I was a bit nervous about belnding on the thin tissue paper with my Copics but I did manage to do some very light blending for the face and hair without tearing the tissue paper.  Now I must admit this was my second try as my first attempt did not turn out well.  I thought I had heated enough with the heat gun but I kept pulling off the tissue paper with the wax paper so I guess I was a bit impatient.  I finally used the heat gun very very carefully and gently over the tissue paper directly.  Once I was finished with the heat gun, I added pearls and stickles and voila.

I'm entering my project into the following challenges:
Go have a look at the rest of the DT's wonderfully inspiring creations.   We'd love to see what you create and one lucky participant will win the following from Bunny Zoe Crafts.  Nikki's store is full of great crafting tools and supplies so be sure to visit because you won't be disappointed.

Happy creating and Hugs,
