Distressing Technique with Make It Crafty

It's the 2nd Wednesday of the month and time for another technique challenge over at Make It Crafty.  Make it Crafty has a technique challenge on the 2nd Wednesday and a fun challenge on the 4th Wednesday.  Our technique challenges are like no others in blogland as they have been designed to assist you if you are stuck or need advice on your project.  If you're looking for assistance, advice and feedback on a project before submitting it to the challenge, then head on over to the Learning Centre and we'll do our best to help.  For those wanting to bypass the Learning Centre and submit projects, then go directly to the challenge blog.  There are awards and fabulous prizes to be won so get creative and have some fun.

This month's technique is distressing so it can be anything from inking the edges of your paper, distressing with scissors/distress tool or creating a whole distressed look background.  Our uber sweet and talented teamie Mag has prepared a tutorial on how to create a distressed background using distress inks and let me tell you it is so much fun.  Be sure to checkout the DT's creations as they are sure to inspire you.

For my card, I used 3 Magnolia stamps to create a scene: Bat TIlda, Spooky Fence and Boo sentiment.  I also have blog candy until October 24 and will add this card to the loot!  Enter for a chance to win the candy HERE which includes this card.

I used 5 different Tim Holtz distress inks for my background on watercolour paper: Crushed Olive, Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and sponged Walnut Stain around the edges.  The card is framed by a Stampology border stamp and the Boo sentiment was stamped with Memento Concord Purple ink.  Image was stamped on Xpress It with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, coloured with Copics and popped up on dots.  I added a fabby bat charm available at Make It Crafty with a Wild Orchid Crafts red gardenia.  Zoe has a wonderful selection of charms and you'll be seeing me use more of them.  How can I pass up on Zoe's shipping deal when she ships up to 4 packages of charms for only $2.20!

I also wanted to share another card today made by my little sweetie Juliette who is 8 years-old.  Earlier this week, Zoe posted an image my daughter coloured just for her  HERE.  Now my little crafter extraordinaire has created a Halloween card for her teacher using another Tilda and the distressing technique too.  Hope you'll get a chance to leave her some sugar as she is quite proud of her creation ~ me too, me too!~ and sooo excited she wants to give it to her teacher way ahead of Halloween.

I'm having the most fabulous time on the Make It Crafty DT.  We have such a wonderful group of ladies our group is growing to include more fabulousness.  The following lovely talented ladies are joining our team and will be playing along with us for the fun challenges.  Click on their names to pop over to their blogs and leave them a note of welcome.  You won't be disappointed as their work and posts will inspire you.  So happy to have you on board ladies :
I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Thank you for your visit and for any comment you might leave.  I hope I've inspired you to join in our challenge and give this technique a try.  Looking forward to seeing your creations.

Hugs,
Maria
